Coosaw Sea Island Cotton Heritage Preserve Dedication
The S.C. Department of Natural Resources Heritage Trust Program has acquired Coosaw Sea Island Cotton Heritage Preserve, protecting the land forever. Back in February, SCDNR purchased the land from the Beaufort County Open Land Trust.
Sites associated with Sea Island cotton, cultivated and harvested by Gullah Geechee people, contain a wealth of history and information, and many are not visible today.
