Daufuskie Native wins James Beard Book Award
Sallie Ann Robinson, Daufuskie native, renowned chef, and cookbook author, has won the prestigious James Beard Hall of Fame book award. This award recognizes an individual’s body of work and given to those whose books have “significantly impacted the way we think about food and cooking.” Robinson gained fame for her cookbook that lists recipes based in the Gullah Geechee culture and combining it with stories of growing up on the island.
