Hutchinson House Wins Award
The Hutchinson House, located on Edisto Island, has won a Carolopolis Award from Preservation Society of Charleston. This house, constructed in 1885, is one of the oldest surviving houses built by African Americans during the Reconstruction Era on Edisto Island. The house remained in the family until 2016, when it was purchased by Edisto Island Open Land Trust.
