Dr. Melissa Stuckey

Committed to engaging the public in important conversations about African American history, Dr. Stuckey is involved in public history projects in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Oklahoma and has posted several articles and book chapters on these research topics. Currently, she is overseeing the rehabilitation of Elizabeth City State University’s historic Rosenwald Practice School building and its Principal’s house. Since 2023, has served as an Associate Professor of History and Director of Public History at the University of South Carolina.
